Scientific Paper presentations Competition

Rules and regulations:

  • Scientific paper can be of the following categories
  • Basic research
  • Clinical research
  • Preventive/Epidemiologic research

Excluding

  • Review papers
  • Case report
  • Case series
  • The duration for presentation will be 8 minutes followed by 2 minutes for discussion. Speaker should strictly adhere to the time schedule.
  • All paper presentation are to be presented in a PowerPoint presentation format.
  • All speakers need to carry a pen drive of their power point presentation to the venue.

Novel Hypothesis /innovations Competition

Rules and regulations:

Novel Hypothesis/Innovations can be of the following categories

  • Introduction of new or improved product/services
  • Introduction of new method of production/process/Novel hypothesis
  • Reengineering/ organization of business management
  • The duration for presentation will be 8 minutes followed by 2 minutes for discussion. Speaker should strictly adhere to the time schedule.
  • All paper presentation are to be presented in a PowerPoint presentation format.
  • All speakers need to carry a pen drive of their power point presentation to the venue.

Case and case series presentation Competition

Guidelines for the conduct of ‘Case and case series presentation competition’ during Unmesh 2023, under the responsibility of Dr. DY Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, Pune

  1. Eligibility criteria for the participants:

All UG, PG & PhD students of all the constituent units of DPU Pune

  1. Rules and regulations of the competition:
  • Definitions
  • Case report: A single case
  • Case series: A series of four or more cases
  • Only original work is to be submitted, submission will be summarily rejected in case of detection of plagiarism.
  • Case or case series previously presented anywhere is not eligible for the competition.
  • Authorship: One presenter, one co presenter, only if the presenter is an UG student. The co presenter (if any) must be available to introduce the presentation & face the questions. The presenter or the co presenter must have been involved in treating the case (case series) planned to be presented
  • Deadlines
  • Submission of the abstracts: by 5 pm on 04 Apr 2023
  • Screening of the abstracts for acceptance for presentation: by 5 pm on 05 Apr 2023
  • Communicating the decision to the presenters: by 5 pm on 06 Apr 2023
  • Submission of the final presentation: by 5 pm on 10 April 2023
  • Specifications of the abstract:
  • Structured running abstract including:
  • Title: Sentence case with a maximum of 100 characters including spaces
  • Presenters & their affiliations
  • Background:why the case (case series) should be presented and its novelty
  • Case (case series) presentation: a brief description of the patient’s clinical and demographic details, the diagnosis, any interventions and the outcomes
  • Conclusions:a brief summary of the clinical impact or potential implications of case (case series)  
  • Keywords: 3 to 5
  • Section headings to be in italics & not in a bold font.
  • Word limit: up to 350 words excluding the title and presenter affiliations & key words
  • Font: Times New Roman
  • Font Size: 14
  • Spacing: Double
  • Submission of the abstract:
  • Soft copy (MS Word as well as PDF) to be submitted along with the consent for publication, by 5 pm on 04 Apr 2023.
  • Consent for publication: The presenter (s) must consent to publication of the abstract in souvenir or special issue of a journal by submitting a soft copy of a separate declaration in the given format.

  3. This has never been presented elsewhere earlier.

  • Headings: same as in the abstract, plus photographs & references in Vancouver style

  • Presentation: 8 minutes
  • Discussion: 2 minutes
  1. Evaluation criteria:

Winner & runners up will be decided after evaluations of the presentations will be evaluated as follows, maximum points being 50:

  • Content: 20 points
  • Punctuality regarding the time allotted for the presentation: 05 points
  • Presentation & audience response: 10 points
  • Discussion with the judges: 15 points
  1. Venue: The auditorium of Dr. DY Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, Pimpri.
  2. Judges: As appointed appointed by DPU Pune
  3. Event documentation: The event will be documented for records, by the following means:
    • Geotagged photography
    • Videography

e-Poster presentations Competition

Rules and regulations of the competition:

  • The E-Poster should be submitted in Portrait Orientation.
  • The E-Poster should be designed in PowerPoint and should contain all information within one slide.
  • The E-Poster should be prepared in English Language. Only one entry is allowed per person.
  • Each presenter will have 2 minutes to present their E-Poster.
  • The file format should be PDF and the file size should not exceed 40 MB.
  • The E-Poster dimensions should be 1080 pixels width x 1536 pixels height in portrait orientation.
  • Hyperlinks, animated images, and animations are not permitted in the E-Poster.
  • The name of the participant should not be mentioned on the E-Poster.
  • Participants should not use the premade posters downloaded from internet

Science Crossword competition

Rules and regulations of the competition:

  • The competition is open to all students of Undergraduate and postgraduate level.
  • The competition will be held on [insert date, time, and location].
  • Participants will be given half and hour to complete the scientific crossword.
  • The crossword will be based on scientific topics.
  • Participants will be evaluated based on the accuracy and completeness of their answers.
  • The competition judges' decision will be final and no appeals will be entertained.
  • Participants must not use any external aids (e.g. textbooks, notes, electronic devices) during the competition.
  • Participants must not communicate with each other during the competition.
  • Participants must adhere to the instructions given by the competition organizers.
  • The organizers reserve the right to amend the competition guidelines or cancel the competition without prior notice.
  • Participants must adhere to the rules and guidelines of the competition to avoid disqualification.
  • Venue: Dr. D.Y. Patil College of Ayurveda and Research Center.

One minute scientific video competition

Rules and regulations of the competition:

  • The competition is open to all undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students.
  • The video should be a maximum of one minute in length and should be based on a scientific topic.
  • The video should be uploaded in MP4 format or the link of the video should be shared in the registration form of the competition.
  • The video should be original and not previously published or submitted to any other competition or publication. No copyrighted material should be used, including footage, stills, animation, and music. You must have permission to use any third-party music or imagery within the video.
  • Use a mic for good quality audio (which should be in sync with the video).
  • For non-English videos, please add English CC/subtitles.
  • The competition judges' decision will be final and no appeals will be entertained.
  • By participating in the competition, participants agree to allow the organizers to use their videos for promotional purposes.
  • The organizers reserve the right to amend the competition guidelines or cancel the competition without prior notice.
  • Participants must adhere to the rules and guidelines of the competition to avoid disqualification.
  • Videos should be creative and engaging, while also accurately conveying scientific information.

Scientific Photography Competition

Rules and regulations of the competition:

  • The competition is open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students of [insert eligible academic levels or courses].
  • The photograph should be based on a scientific topic or theme.
  • The photograph should be an original work and not previously published or submitted to any other competition or publication.
  • Participants can submit a maximum of one photographs for the competition.
  • The photograph(s) should be submitted in JPEG format via email to [insert email address] by the submission deadline of [insert date and time].
  • The email subject should be "Scientific Photography Competition Entry" and should include the participant's name, school/college, and contact information.
  • Participants should ensure that they have obtained all necessary permissions (e.g. for models or locations) before submitting their photographs.
  • Plagiarism is strictly prohibited and any instances of plagiarism will result in disqualification.
  • The competition judges' decision will be final and no appeals will be entertained.
  • Participants must adhere to the rules and guidelines of the competition to avoid disqualification.
  • Photographs should be creative and visually appealing, while also accurately conveying scientific information or concepts.

On spot assay writing Competition

Rules and regulations of the competition:

  • The competition is open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  • The competition will be held for a duration of one hour.
  • Participants will be given a scientific topic or theme on the spot and will be required to write an essay on it.
  • The essays should be based on scientific concepts and should be written in English language.
  • No additional materials, including electronic devices or reference materials, will be allowed during the competition.
  • Plagiarism is strictly prohibited and any instances of plagiarism will result in disqualification.
  • The competition judges' decision will be final and no appeals will be entertained.
  • Participants must adhere to the rules and guidelines of the competition to avoid disqualification.
  • Essays should be well-researched, informative and creative.
  • The organizers will provide participants with the necessary instructions and guidelines prior to the start of the competition.
